Choice / Open Enrollment Options
Note: The initial open enrollment period for the following school year is January 15 to May 1. If January 15 or May 1 falls on a weekend, it shall be the next school day.
Due to current overcrowding and projected student enrollment, the following schools are not accepting and/or approving intra-district choice/open enrollment applications or Inter-district choice/open enrollment applications for the 2012-13 school year:
- Boston K-8
- Laredo Elementary
- Tollgate Elementary
- Side Creek Elementary
- Vassar Elementary
- Vista PEAK Exploratory
- Vista PEAK Preparatory
In Colorado, students may enroll in any school that has classroom space. Most APS families enroll in their neighborhood school. You can determine which school your student should attend by using our Address Lookup Tool.
There are other educational options to choose from in addition to your neighborhood school. Consider your family's needs and student's educational goals when selecting a school.
If you would like to enroll your child in a school other than your neighborhood school, visit the school and complete an open enrollment application. The principal of the school will notify you if there is space available and if your application is accepted.
For more information on open enrollment policies and to print out an open enrollment form, review one of the following APS School Board policies:
- Open Enrollment within APS boundaries
- Open Enrollment for students outside APS boundaries
- Download the Open Enrollment forms.
Open-enrollment deadline: May 1
